Healthy Homemade Vegan Nutella

Here’s a homemade Nutella recipe that takes only 30 minutes to make, and uses only four ingredients! Plus, it’s vegan and gluten free! 🤩


3 cups raw or roasted unsalted hazelnuts

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

1/2 tsp sea salt

2/3 cup dairy-free dark chocolate, chopped


  1. Preheat your oven to 180ºC. Place the hazelnuts on a baking sheet and spread them out to an even layer. For raw nuts, roast for 12-15 minutes. For already roasted nuts, roast for 8-10 minutes to heat the oils in the nuts and loosen their skins.
  2. Remove the nuts from the oven and let cool slightly. Remove the skins by rolling the nuts in a towel – the less skins, the creamier the Nutella!
  3. Put the nuts in a food processor or blender and blend on low until a butter forms. This will take around 10 minutes. While this happens, melt the chocolate over a double boiler or in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and the salt to the butter once smooth, then blend again. Start adding the melted chocolate a little bit at a time until homogenous. Taste for seasoning, adding more vanilla extract or more salt, or even some maple syrup for extra sweetness.

Keep at room temperature for 2-3 weeks ✨
